Interesting, these CMH's with internal electronic ignitors?

Actually just a glowbottle! An electronic ignitor would have been not only expensive, but also less reliable given the rather high operating temperature of the ballast inside the black base. Which of course, is also magnetic Smile

Is there much of a market for these retrofit lamps? I would have thought a gear swap and a 70 CMH lamp would be the best long term solution. I suppose any lantern that uses these lamps won't last long anyway before it gets torn down and supplanted by some LED thing!

I`d have guessed they were for the old European `pot` type lanterns, where a whole gear change would be costly?

These are great lamps but I have never seen one in use sadly.

Me either me and Davy were looking at fitting a load in a office car park to replace 125W merc seeing as decent lamps no longer exist and I think the price of these was about £50 each IIRC?
