Crompton 230V 60W Ruby Red millitary lamp
Here we have a 60W Ruby red incandescent lamp made by crompton for the military. the picture doesn't do it justice in real life its a real deep red quite beautiful. not only is the lamp made from real deep red glass (so deep it looks like a woods glass lamp when off) its also been acid etched quite an interesting effect. lamp is also quite heavy I think these where hand made to a degree and the manufacturing process hadn't changed since the 1950s (I think this specific lamp dates to the early 90s)

Cool lamp Dez do these have a longer life?
Lightbulbfun   [23 Jul, 2016 at 03:08 PM]
Not entirely sure on the life but i would not be surprised if it was rated to last longer then the normal 1000H (it does have a rough service filament)

Nice lamp Dez, wonder if there is still some on ebay?

Maybe on eBay but I doubt any GLS lamps are made to this standard anymore. Cheap shit only today sadly

These are lovely lamps. I have a 40w version and it is quality, such a deep red glow.

Is my bro says the mil is one of the only places where LED is optional with the preference for Inkies with the guarantee of a smooth light with no strobing. The GLS I use today are all marked as Heavy Duity and have already lasted way over 1,000 hours
