You have one as well! I wonder what the application was for these.
I have no idea. It apparently came out of a fitting that looked much like a more modern type with a dome shaped cover ofer the ballast etc and the tube exposed around the rim. Any idea of the age?

James what's the chances of some new cathodes in this?
Don't think it even needs that, just a fresh dose of emmitter and a cleaning of the sputtering
Thing is tho there's going to be wear in the cathodes where the hot spots been so cathode will be weak
Possibly but it is braided so it would have to break 7 times to seperate
Its original and running, how perfect is that?
Well it turned out to be a 5 minute wonder it reduced to rectification shortly after this pic was taken. I want to have this refurbished
Ask James if anything can be done?
Have done

Just reading the comments on this and I noticed it was mentioned this has braided cathodes, Braided cathodes was Thorn Thing Right? so i wonder if they sourced cathodes from Thorn... Lamp life would of been very impressive if that was the case!
