box signs, not something you see many of today, though a few are still about if you look hard enough

the most retro looking of this family were post top mounted 30/40mph internally lit box signs, very 70's

they went out of favour as they are not reflective like a sign plate with a over head twin 8 watt on them

Simmonsigns still sells the Invincas which are also backlit.
