Eveready 6w lantern with pre-heat inverter I have quite a collection of battery fluorescent lanterns but only tend to post here if they are a bit special. This one is for a number of reasons, the first being that the main body is of metal with a walnut effect coating, very 70s! But this also seems to have a quality inverter circuit that preheats the cathodes on start up which is much easier on the tube rather than instant starting the tube as with the majority of these lanterns. It has quite an interesting fade in start, a bit like SRS.

It reminds me of those American cars you would often see in films from the 70s that had a walnut strip around the outside, never saw them here.

Yes, over here the MK1 Cortina estate came with this wood effect side panels it got the nick name 'woody'

I bet this was mad at my favourite place. Is it actually spelt Eveready or Ever Ready?

It's spelt Eveready but is made in Hong Kong. It also says it's a British registered design. I have many battery fluorescent lanterns and I think they are all made in Hong Kong.
