THORN MK15 PP265 - Salvaged For Spares

Here you see a rather sad, 1994 vintage THORN PP265 MK15 which I pulled out of the skip at work today. As you can see, sadly whichever twat took it down decided to bend it in half! It tested all fine electrically, about 22 ohms across each ballast, no earth leakage & PFC capacitor 9.5uF (10uF +/- 10% rating). Straightened it out and stuck a couple of tubes & starters in, what do you know, it works perfectly, both ballasts are nice & quiet.

Oh well. I've salvaged the ballasts, lamps holders, capacitor and put the rest back in the skip.

Are they replacing them with LED?

Yep, everything is slowly getting ripped out and replaced with NVC LED battens. For some reason they only use 5fts, Either 40w or 65w, but whichever they decide to use, you can pretty much guarantee it'll be completely inappropriate for the area. There's a relatively small panel house that was done a while ago, it was previously lit perfectly with 5x single 35w T5 battens, the lot got ripped out and replaced with the NVC LED battens in 65w! It's absolutely ridiculously bright now, so bright it hurts your eyes. Not to mention the +150w power consumption! Shocked Shocked Shocked

I've tried explaining to them that something like a 20W LED batten would have been more appropriate and that it was pointless replacing a newish T5 installation anyway, but they don't care. At least I get to salvage some of the decent stuff that gets removed, that is when it doesn't get bent in half lol!

I see T5 HF battens disappearing almost daily sadly thats one technology that took off in 2006 time but has died out as fast as the rest. Sadly it stands no chance ic its not fucking LED!

As for the person bending them up I'd wring his neck
