2x20W 2' Military Fluorescent Fitting
Bargain for a tenner (plus £11.20 shipping) off eBay. Thing is an absolute tank, clearly made up to a standard rather than down to a price. RF suppression on everything, and compliant mountings to protect the tubes from vibration.

I'll try to get a few better pictures when I've got some actual daylight to work with.

Just remember, we've all paid for these once in taxes!

Indeed, I can't change that though, and would rather own a fitting of this quality than miss the chance!

Also, have to remove the RFI suppression or otherwise rewire it - or run without a ground on account of our hyper sensitive RCD.

Yeah mine didn't like that either.

Just need a radar red or radar blue for the second tube in here now...have just run it up for a test (tubes are swirling away madly, so obviously new) with the earth lifted. I'll have a think about a long term solution if I decide to install it somewhere.

I just removed the caps. Would be interesting to have a red tube on an independent circuit for night mode Smile
