Gama-sonic 'Jerican' Twin tube rechargable lantern
|
I have lost count of how many fluorescent torches I now have and don't generally post unless there is something a bit special about a particular model. There are several things that make this one worthy of note, the most obvious being that it is twin tube with the option to run on one tube only to extend the battery life. The battery is a sealed lead acid battery with an internal mains charger, powered by a lead stored in a compartment with a two pin shaver style plug. It can also serve as an emergency light, powering the tubes when disconnected from the mains. The electronics are all old school using a conventional power supply consisting of a transformer and rectifier bridge, all using discrete components, no integrated circuits/chips. Probably late 80s/early 90s

You have the later model from the late 90s, which might have been made in Israel or in Taiwan or in China
The older ones from the early 90s were made in Israel, in them the cable was not stored inside the lantern but just detachable with a shaver-like connector, also they had a DC connector for connecting to a car 12V receptacle. I have one somewhere, but dont recall where exactly. The box from it is right here though. I'll upload a picture later
Most of them were made in White color
