From right under my nose too! You'll most likely have better use for them anyway. I didn't know pulses did 8ft'ers. Would love to see that in action!

Modern electronic starters work with all lengths & wattages. Older ones often struggled with 8' 100w for some reason, I haven't tried these on that setup yet

The modern ones are definitly better than the older ones.

I bought a dozen used 'Waldmann' 4-125w electronic starters off ebay a few years ago they were advertised as for use in sunbeds! these also have a longer pre-heat and no multipulse. I use them in 4' 40w upto 8' 125w and have given no trouble at all.

Modern ones pretty much all use Thomson TN22 or PI Y1112 SCR's, the rest of the circuit is sometimes exactly sometimes not exactly what's in the application notes for the SCR. I have a couple 80s ones from UK and they appear to use other older parts. I wonder what's in the ones here, doesn't seem to be either of the common SCR's
